Diagnostic Audiologic Evaluations
Your hearing needs to be evaluated further if you have been referred for a diagnostic audiologic examination. The procedure is performed to determine the type and extent of any hearing loss you may have. It may also offer clarity regarding the cause of the hearing loss you are experiencing and can help our audiologists make the most suitable treatment recommendations for you.
The exact tests may depend on your age, symptoms and medical history, but these three types of assessments are part of every diagnostic audiologic evaluation:
- Pure-tone testing
- Bone conduction testing
- Speech testing
Hearing Aid Evaluations
If your test results show a permanent hearing loss, hearing aids are one of the best forms of treatment. Alongside an explanation of the kinds of sounds you have trouble hearing, we'll also explain how hearing aids can help you hear better.
We will do all we can to help you choose the best hearing aid style, features and power level based on your degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and budget. Of course, you'll have the final decision as to which model will work for you. You might even get to sample a selection of our hearing aids in-house.
If you have selected a custom hearing aid or a behind-the-ear (BTE) model, then we will proceed to make impressions of your ears. Your model will then be ordered from the supplier and specially programmed for your hearing loss by our team.
Hearing aids take time to get used to, so you may have to come in for further sessions to change certain settings. This is a very important step and will help ensure that you are getting the most out of your device.
Hearing Aid Fitting and Programming
After an assessment, we will fit and program your hearing aids to suit your hearing needs based on your audiogram results. We'll walk you through how to operate and maintain your new device, as well as how to charge and replace the batteries.
Hearing Aid Repairs
Even if you regularly clean and maintain your hearing aids, persistent use will wear out the components of any device eventually. If you have noticed that your hearing aids aren't as good as they could be, arrange a repair with us. We use only the latest methods to repair your hearing aids.
