Kirsten Atwood, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Atwood has been practicing audiology for over 30 years. She completed both her undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and her Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of South Alabama. After more than a decade in the field, she went back to school and, in 2003, earned a Doctor of Audiology degree at the Arizona School of Health Sciences. Dr. Atwood has extensive experience in diagnostic audiology and hearing aid technologies, holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is a founding member of the American Academy of Audiology, with active involvement in the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and the Florida Academy of Audiology.

Dr. Atwood’s connection to her work is personal. Her grandfather had hearing loss for as long as she can remember, the result of Scarlet Fever he contracted in the early 1900s at age seven. He went on to become a very successful small business owner, but even with hearing aids, his hearing loss made it harder for him to communicate with family, friends, and customers. Watching that firsthand is what drew her to audiology. She wanted to help him, and others like him, communicate more easily with the people around them.
